HEIVEN, ART OF SNUG - HOW IT ALL STARTED

HOW IT ALL STARTED

On a cold and rainy afternoon on December 27th, 2020, I was running along the Strandvej, “the beach road” near Copenhagen, squinting from biting wind and rain.

By the time I reached Bellevue beach, the hail had begun coming down. A flickering of light caught my eye. I turned my head and saw a tower. Something about it made me stop and get closer.

I stood there for a long moment, still...taking in the powerful mix of the North Sea, the hail, the rain… and the warm light exuding from this little tower. It had a quiet beauty that I also found comforting, almost like a fire in a hearth. I was lost in time, transfixed, contemplating. Then I snapped out of the reverie, and started frantically taking  pictures until the phone battery died.

By the time I got home with my frozen fingers paining, I was still emotionally affected by this lighthouse, a reassuring beacon for those at sea, swept away by the wind and bombarded by the hail.

Upon my return to Paris, the seed of an idea started taking root. What if I found a way to share that special feeling I had on Bellevue Strand with those who -

  • Seek harmony, inner peace and contentment at home and at work
  • are looking for unconditional love, to give and receive
  • find happiness in deep, authentic, meaningful and generous friendships
  • do not wish to constantly carry the toughness armor
  • want to live, feeling warm, protected, happy, relaxed

WHAT IN HELL IS HEIVEN ?

One evening, we were having dinner with our kids. ‘What do you think would best represent the magic feeling I have every time I contemplate this picture ?’

My son replied, ‘Papa, it feels like a safe place to me, it feels like a haven.’  ‘Havn means harbor in Danish’, my wife pointed out, ‘A safe and peaceful harbour.’

And there we had it. Havn in Danish as a harbour, a place of safety and rest and haven in English as a place where people feel safe, secure and happy.

And so, the HEIVEN project was born.

WHO THE HELL IS HEIVEN FOR ?

One day, a dear friend gave me a tiny book called Too Soon Old, Too late Smart. According to the author, “happiness… is a state in which our lives have both meaning and pleasure”.  To me, this definition of happiness truly reflects the core values of HEIVEN.

HEIVEN is a safe harbour for those who -

  • believe that contentment is a state in which our lives have both meaning and pleasure
  • seek to grow, learn and become who they are meant to be
  • truly care about themselves, their relationships and the world around them
  • are generous in giving and receiving unconditional love
  • believe life is there for us to grow, enjoy and share with others
  • want to experience that cozy and comforting feeling

HEIVEN - THINGS WITH MEANING

So what’s the link between seeking happiness and this project? Just as happiness is a state in which our lives have both meaning and pleasure, I believe that the garments we wear and the objects we surround ourselves with should also have meaning and pleasure.

Over the years, I became convinced that our physical space can have a profound impact on life, behavior, energy, creativity and how we feel.

I believe the clothes that we wear and objects we carry or keep close to us have energy and meaning. I know that words have a deep impact. I believe that when someone we care about gives us something, it carries a special energy.

That’s why we cherish the things we receive or inherit from those we love and care about.

By deliberately designing our space and choosing the objects we wear or surround ourselves with, we create a state of inner peace and comfort. We become inspired, more productive, more creative. We feel SNUG.

HEIVEN will do just that for you and those you care about.

HEIVEN : SCIENCE DRIVEN APPROACH TO LIVING SNUG LIFE

The words and stories we tell ourselves and those we care about have a profound impact on our lives. Asking the right questions helps us create life stories of meaning and pleasure.

This is why you will find questions on many Heiven objects.  Based on neuroscience, they are carefully crafted to help you reach the state of contentment

The questions on Heiven products are simple prompts for better living.

GIVING BACK

I deeply care about two causes :

GIRLS EDUCATION

SAVING THE EARTH

From day one, Heiven will give back a part of the profits from the items you buy to organisations working tirelessly on these two issues.

As the Heiven community grows, we will let you decide which charities you would like to contribute to.

Did you know that giving is  a powerful way to make you feel happy ?  (scientists say that when you give, your brain releases many endorphins as well as oxytocin, the “pleasure hormones”.
